My name is Steve Ellis and I’m an author, licensed cosmetologist and barber, husband, and father. My father, Frederick “Good Fred” Ellis, was a licensed barber for over 40 years, and it was at his barbershop, La Rutan, in the heart of South Los Angeles that I developed my love for barbering and cosmetology. As a result, I followed in my father’s footsteps and have been a licensed stylist for 30 years.

Through running multiple successful businesses, my father taught me the importance of creating generational wealth and building a strong financial future for myself and my family. I consider it my responsibility to share that knowledge as well as tips and tricks I’ve gained throughout my career with the next generation of barbers, cosmetologists, and stylists to ensure they are set up for professional, personal, and financial success. My book, The Mindset of Acquiring Wealth, was written to serve as a guide to help individuals in their journey
